JACKSONVILLE -- After a tough two-game road swing last week, Jacksonville State looks to get back on track when Alabama A&M visits the JSU Soccer Field for the first of a three-game home stand on Friday at 7 p.m.
This will be the first meeting in five years and just the second meeting ever between the two schools in women's soccer. The Gamecocks claimed a 2-0 win over the Bulldogs in 2003.
JSU hopes to get back to its winning ways after dropping a pair Ohio Valley Conference road games last weekend. The Gamecocks lost to league leading Murray State, 4-0, on Friday before dropping a 1-0 decision to fourth place Tennessee-Martin on Sunday to fall to 5-7-3 overall and 2-3-1 in the OVC.
Chelsea Pelletier leads the team with 12 points that includes six goals and one assist. Kristi Pereira, who has four goals and two assists for 10 points, is second and Lindasy Boehmler follows with nine points, four goals and one assist.
Alyshia Madison has a team-high three assists. Kate Kelly has started 13-of-15 games in goal and has 86 saves while
Christine Cunningham has nine saves in four contests, two starts.
Alabama A&M enters the match with a 3-7-1 overall record after battling Murray State to a scoreless draw last Sunday.
Belinda Kanda and LeTisha Davis have combined to score nine of the team's 15 goals this season for Alabama A&M. Kanda is the team leader with five followed by Davis' four. Racquel Johnson has started 11 games in goal and has 63 saves.
The Gamecocks wrap up the 2008 regular season with two key OVC contests that will have tournament implications next weekend. JSU hosts Morehead State on Friday at 7 p.m. and Eastern Kentucky on Sunday at 1 p.m.  Sunday's match marks the final home match for seniors Kate Kelly, Elsa Kurlychek and Kristi Pereira.
