JSU Soccer Shuts Out Eastern Illinois, 3-0

Chelsea Pelletier, Alyshia Madison and Ally Brosius scored goals to lead Jacksonville State University to a 3-0 win over Eastern Illinois at the JSU Soccer Field on Sunday.

The Gamecocks moved to .500 on the season, improving to 5-5-3 overall and 2-1-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Panthers fell to 0-11-1 and 0-3-0 in the league.

Pelletier broke the scoreless tie with 3:32 left in the first half. The freshman from Fort Worth, Texas dribbled from the left side to the top of the box before beating the EIU keeper in the left corner to give JSU a 1-0 lead at halftime.

JSU padded the lead with two second-half goals. Madison headed a cross from Lindsay Boehmler into the right corner of the goal in the 66th minute for a 2-0 advantage and Brosius gave the Gamecocks a 3-0 lead in the 75th minute, scoring on a shot from about 25 yards out on the right side.

The Gamecocks held a 17-10 shot advantage and a 6-5 edge in shots on goal while the JSU defense held off six corner kick opportunities by EIU

Kate Kelly recorded six saves on the afternoon while recording her first shutout of the season while EIU's Jenny William had five saves.

Jacksonville State hits the road for a pair of OVC contests, beginning on Friday against league leader Murray State at 3 p.m. in Murray, Ky. The Gamecocks wrap up the road trip at Tennessee Martin in Martin, Tenn. on Sunday at 2 p.m.
