JACKSONVILLE -- Jacksonville State head coach soccer Julie Davis has announced her 2008 signing class; a class that features 10 players from five states and fills needs at all three field positions.
Included in this class are four players from the state of Texas, three from Georgia and one each from Utah, Illinois and Alabama. The 10 players combine for eight MVP or Player of the Year awards and 16 all-state, all-region and all-county honors. Also adding to the strength of Davis' fourth recruiting class is versatility, as four players have experience at multiple positions.
“This is our largest recruiting class since arriving at JSU,” head coach Julie Davis said. “We needed to bring a class that provided us with depth and versatility. I am looking forward to adding them into the team along with our returning players to see the dynamics. Each of theses kids possesses the ability to come in and make an immediate impact. They have all shown their ability to achieve success on the soccer field and most importantly in the classroom.”
“We continue to target players, locally and nationally, that are very good students and good players. We are continuously looking for those individuals who set their goals of excellence in the classroom and on the field at a high level. All of these players have exemplified great character, skill, physical fitness, speed and passion. The one thing that I like about all of them is their belief in our goals and the sacrifices that are made in becoming a team driven to win an OVC Championship,” Davis said.
