JSU Soccer Claims 1-0 Overtime Win Over Austin Peay

Amber DeLaney closed Jacksonville State's 2009 season with her sixth game-winning goal of the season to deliver a 1-0 overtime victory over Austin Peay on Friday at the JSU Soccer Field.

The Gamecocks wrapped up the season with two straight wins for the first time since 2001, concluding the season with an 8-10 record and a 2-6 mark in the OVC. Austin Peay finished the season 1-13-4 overall and 0-6-3 in conference play.

Junior Alex Rustad sent a pass down the middle to DeLaney, who beat the APSU defense to the ball and then sent the ball to left corner of the goal to end the game with 1:56 left in the extra period.

It was DeLaney's team-best eighth goal of the season, wrapping up her career with a JSU record eight career game-winning goals, including a JSU single season record six game-winning goal this season.

The Gamecocks edged the Lady Govs 11-10 in total shots and 7-4 in shots on goal. JSU outshot APSU 3-2 in overtime.

Ali Koenig recorded her fourth shutout of the season, recording four saves on the night. Carley Newman had six saves for Austin Peay.
