RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky tallied a first half goal and made it hold up for a 1-0 win over Jacksonville State on Sunday.
The Gamecocks fell to 6-8 on the season and 0-4 in the OVC while the Colonels improved to 4-7-1 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play.
Alex Raich found the back of the nets off Ashley Green's corner kick to give EKU a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute.
The Gamecocks had nine shots with EKU goalkeeper Stephanie Lynch posting four saves on the afternoon. JSU keeper
Ali Koenig had six saves while EKU totaled 11 shots, seven on goal.
Nicole Vickery had a team-high three shots, one on goal, while
Amber DeLaney,
Chelsea Pelletier and
Emily Bielaga each had had one shot on goal for JSU.
Jacksonville State returns home to host Austin Peay at the JSU Soccer Field on Friday at 7 p.m.
