CULLOHWEE, N.C. – Elon University scored a goal late in the first overtime to edge Jacksonville State 2-1 in game three of the Catamount Classic hosted by Western Carolina University on Sunday.
It was the first overtime game of the season for the Gamecocks, who fell to 5-4-0 overall and return home to host Murray State on Friday at 6 p.m. at the JSU Soccer Field. 
Shannon Foley scored her second goal of the season in the 98th minute off a pass from Elizabeth Palmer for the game-winner to help Elon improve to 4-2-1 on the season.
Brittany Hallberg scored from five yards in front of the goal off a cross from Foley in the 24th minute to give Elon a 1-0 lead. 
The score remained 1-0 until the 70th minute when 
Alex Rustad scored the equalizer from 15 yards out off a pass from 
Melanie Rigo that would force overtime.
Elon out shot JSU 5-1 in the overtime and 23-8 for the match. 
Kristen Haney had six saves and picked up the win in goal for Elon. 
Ali Koenig suffered her second straight loss in goal, finishing with 11 saves on the day for the Gamecocks.
Alyshia Madison and Koenig were named to the Catamount Classic All-Tournament team.
