Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn.- The Jacksonville State volleyball team fell in straight sets to Belmont University (25-23, 25-10, 25-20) Friday night at the Curb Event Center.
The Bruins (7-12, 3-2) used a balanced attack to hit .281 for the match while dropping the Gamecocks to 7-12 overall and 3-2 in Ohio Valley Conference play.
The Gamecocks jumped out early in the first match and found themselves leading 17-11 before Belmont fought back to tie it at 22 apiece.
Nicole Merget's kill gave JSU a 23-22 advantage but the Bruins scored the next three points to pull off the 25-22 come from behind victory.
With momentum behind them, the Bruins started the second set with a 4-0 run and hit .500 for the set while never looking back in the 25-10 victory. Belmont held the Gamecocks to a .059 hitting percentage for the set.
Belmont continued to limit the Gamecocks offensive attack in the third set, holding JSU to a .089 hitting percentage on way to the 25-20 victory to complete the sweep.
Overall, the Gamecocks hit a season low .099 for the match.
Hivya Leite led JSU with 10 kills.
Alina Agamy just barely missed out on a double-double with 26 assists and nine digs while
Kelsey Anderson led the Gamecocks with 26 digs.
Jen Myer and Jocelyn Youngdahl led the Bruins with 11 and 10 kills respectively. Hannah Miranda recorded a double-double with 39 assists and 13 digs.
The Gamecocks will return to action on Saturday morning as they face Tennessee State at 11 a.m.
