MIAMI, Fla. – Jax State volleyball is set to take on Kennesaw State in the opening round of the 2025 CUSA Volleyball Tournament Friday night in Miami, Fla. The Gamecocks earned the 6-seed in the tournament, while Kennesaw is the 3-seed.
The Gamecocks are coming off a 1-1 weekend at Louisiana Tech last week to close out the regular season. LA Tech took the first match on Nov. 12 with a 3-2 final. Jax State answered on Nov. 13 with a 3-1 victory.
Kayla Williams continued to shine against LA Tech as she had a team-high 42 kills on 4.67 kills per set across the pair of matches. Williams reached 1,500 kills in her collegiate career in Nov. 13's match. She has 938 kills in two years at Jax State and over 560 kills from her time at Odessa Community College.
Freshman setter also had a nice weekend at LA Tech as she led the Gamecocks with 75 assists on 8.33 assists per set to lead the team. Solomon reached 1,000 assists in Nov. 13's win, making her the 18
th Gamecock to reach 1,000 single-season assists.
Williams is first in CUSA this season with 465 kills and her average of 4.15 kills per set is also first in the league. Williams was honored as First-Team All-CUSA on Nov. 19. Meanwhile, Solomon is first in the conference with 1,013 total assists and ranks third in the league with an average of 9.04 assists per set. Solomon was named to the All-CUSA Freshman Team on Nov. 19.
Luci Wilkinson is second in CUSA in digs per set averaging 4.28 digs per set and is second in total digs with 479. Wilkinson was named as the CUSA Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 6 and Sep. 8.
2025 is the first time Jax State has qualified for the CUSA Tournament since joining the conference in 2023. The top eight teams in the league qualify for the tournament annually. The winner of Friday's match moves on to the semifinals to face the winner of Western Kentucky and New Mexico State.

Scouting Kennesaw State: Kennesaw State ended the 2025 regular season with an 18-8 overall record and a 12-4 mark in CUSA play. The Owls are led by Manu Johnsen who ranks second in the league with an average of 4.13 kills per set. Johnsen has 405 kills on the year, the third most in CUSA. Johnsen was named to the 2025 All-CUSA First-Team. Kennesaw also has middle blocker Olvia Burrage who was named to the 2025 All-CUSA Second-Team. Burrage is third in CUSA with 114 total blocks and ranks fourth with an average of 1.18 blocks per set. The Owls hold a 10-3 all-time record over Jax State. The Gamecocks won the first meeting 3-0 on Aug. 31, 2010. Kennesaw won the most recent matches this season with a 3-1 final on Oct. 24 and a 3-0 win on Oct. 25.
