CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Jacksonville State soccer team went toe-to-toe with the Ohio Valley Conference leader, Eastern Illinois before falling 2-1 on Friday afternoon on the EIU campus.
The road loss dropped the Gamecocks to 4-10-2 on the season and 0-6-1 in the OVC.  The Panthers maintained their lead in the conference standings with the win as they moved to 6-1 against OVC competition and 6-10-1 overall.
EIU jumped out to a 2-0 lead by the 23rd minute with goals in the 6th minute and early in the 23rd minute.  EIU's Meagan Radloff scored the match's first goal with a close-range  shot from the left side of the box after receiving a pass from Lauren Hoppensteadt.  Radloff now ranks as one of the top-scorers in the OVC with her sixth goal of the season.
The Panthers put the eventual game-winner on the board in the 23rd minute as Chris Reed took a shot from 15 yards out in to the back of the net after dribbling past JSU's 
Cate Eden, who made her second start in goal.
Jax State trimmed the deficit in half in the 28th minute after junior 
Lindsey Jackson notched her second career goal.  Jackson, from Marietta, Ga., drilled a shot from 15 yards out after taking an assist from freshman 
Nicola Dominikovich.
JSU, who entered the weekend as the top-shooting team in the OVC, finished with 11 total shots.  EIU registered 10 more scoring chances in the contest and finished with 21 shots.  Junior 
Jackie Rush, the league's top-shooter, tallied a team-best five shots.
The Gamecocks continue action in the state of Illinois on Sunday with a 1 p.m. contest at Southern Illinois Edwardsville.  The match will be available on the OVC Digital Network.
