Gamecocks Tangle With Lady Hornets To Open Homestand: The Gamecocks of Jacksonville State tangle with the Lady Hornets of Alabama State on Friday to begin the season's longest homestand for JSU.  Match time is set for 7 p.m. at the JSU Soccer Field.  Jax State looks to keep its home winning streak in tact as it has claimed the first two home matches of the 2013 campaign with wins over Alabama A&M and Troy.  The Gamecocks, 3-3-1 on the season, turned in a split last weekend with a 1-0 double overtime win against Troy and falling on the road at Mercer last Sunday.  ASU begins the weekend with a 3-5-0 mark and have dropped its last four outings.  The Lady Hornets have secured wins over South Carolina State, Tennessee Tech and Chattanooga.

The JSU-ASU Series: JSU and ASU meet for just the fourth time on the pitch tonight with the Red and White holding a 3-0 lead in the short series.  The Gamecocks have outscored the Lady Hornets, 29-0 in the first three matches between the two in-state programs.  The last meeting between Jax State and ASU came during the 2009 season with the Gamecocks routing the Black and Gold, 11-0.     

Jax State vs. In-State Schools: Jacksonville State has played 12 in-state programs since the program started in 1995 and lead the all-time series with seven of the 12 schools and has played schools from the state of Alabama 71 times entering tonight's match.  JSU holds a 34-35-2 overall mark against teams from the Yellowhammer State.

OVC Leaders: After three weeks in to the 2013 season, JSU leads the Ohio Valley Conference in shots taken with 115 shots through the first seven matches of the season.  The Gamecocks are averaging 16.43 shots per match.  JSU has two of the top-three scoring threats in the OVC as junior Jackie Rush leads the league in shots with 34 (4.86 per match).  Sophomore Kelsey Bright ranks second in the OVC with 26 (3.71 per match) scoring opportunities.

Sweet Home September: The Gamecocks close out the non-conference docket on Sunday, Sept. 22 versus Georgia State.  Match time is set for 2 p.m.  Jax State begins OVC play on Sept. 27 and 29, hosting Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State respectively.
