JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville State volleyball team will begin a busy week of home action on Tuesday, when the Gamecocks host Alabama A&M in non-conference action at 7 p.m. at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

The Gamecocks (10-8, 4-0 Ohio Valley Conference) will take a break from league play against the Bulldogs (5-14, 0-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference), the second in three meetings this season between the two schools. JSU swept AAMU on Sept. 4 in Troy's tournament.

Jax State will look to keep its recent momentum going into the three-game homestand that will conclude with a Friday match against Tennessee State and a Saturday showdown with Belmont. All three matches this week will be streamed live on the OVC Digital Network.

JSU improved to 4-0 last week with a pair of league wins over Tennessee Tech and UT Martin. The Gamecocks downed the Golden Eagles in four sets on Tuesday before a five-set road win over the Skyhawks on Saturday left them and Austin Peay as the lone unbeaten teams in the OVC standings.

A big week from freshman Charis Ludtke paced the JSU offense in the wins over TTU and UTM. The Hamburg, Germany, native opened teh week with an eight-kill effort against TTU before erupting for 19 kills on a .368 attack percentage at UTM on Saturday. She raised her season average to 1.89 kills per set, fourth on the team.

In JSU's 3-0 win over AAMU in early September, junior Emily Rutherford led the way with 15 kills and a .429 attack percentage. A native of Georgetown, Texas, Rutherford notched a pair of double-doubles last week, grabbing 10 kills in each match to go along with 14 digs against TTU and 12 at UT Martin. She now has seven double-doubles this season.
