JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State volleyball team made quick work of visiting Alabama A&M, sweeping the Bulldogs in a midweek nonconference match at Pete Mathews Coliseum on Tuesday.
In a break from conference play, the Gamecocks (11-8) claimed their fifth-straight victory and their eighth win in the last 10 matches by rolling past the Bulldogs (5-15) for the 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-14)win.

Charis Ludtke was the offensive leader for Jax State with a team-high nine kills, followed by senior
Nicole Merget and freshman
Allyson Zuhlke with eight apiece. Zuhlke, a native of Tomball, Texas, had a .500 attack percentage for the match. The only higher percentage was junior
Emily Rutherford's .667. The Georgetown, Texas, native recorded seven kills and also contributed seven digs on the defensive side. Sophomore
Trisha Mockapetris added five kills to assist in the victory.

Samantha Bohne led all Gamecocks with 14 digs followed by
Hannah Kirk with 10. Setter
Jennifer Hart continued her strong freshman season by dishing out 42 of the Gamecocks' 45 assists to set up a JSU offense that hit .435 as a unit.
In the opening set, The Gamecocks were able to double up the Bulldogs early with a 10-5 lead and again at 16-8. They would hold a comfortable margin up to the 25-17 set win. Zuhlke and Rutherford set the tone early with perfect 1.000 hitting percentages in the first set.
JSU continued the pace in the second set by jumping out to a 14-3 lead and never letting up on the way to a 25-14 set victory. Junior
Kaitlyn Zelhart's three kills on a .600 hitting percentage in the set helped lead to the win.
En route to their first sweep since taking three-straight from Mercer on Sept. 9, JSU downed the Bulldogs 25-14 to claim the match.
Ashundria McNeal led Alabama A&M offensively and defensively with her eight kills and nine digs.
Jacksonville State continues its homestand and resumes Ohio Valley Conference play this weekend by hosting Tennessee State and Belmont. The Gamecocks will take on TSU Friday at 7 p.m. before concluding the weekend against the Bruins at 2 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free for all fans.
