BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – True freshman Jennifer Hart has been named the Ohio Valley Conference's Setter of the Week for her efforts in guiding the Jacksonville State volleyball team to a pair of wins at the Ole Miss Magnolia Invitational.
 
A 5-foot-7 setter from Davidson, N.C., Hart has improved her numbers each week of her young collegiate career, resulting in a big weekend in Oxford, Miss. She and the Gamecocks (4-6) have won four of their last six games after grabbing wins over in-state rival UAB and Mercer last week. Their lone loss came to the undefeated Rebels, but they did hand Ole Miss its first opening set loss of the season.
 
Hart averaged 10.2 assists per set over the weekend, while leading JSU to a .184 team hitting percentage. She had two double-doubles, starting in the 3-1 win over UAB, when she dished 37 assists and grabbed 11 digs on the back row for the Gamecocks.
 
Her best match came in the loss to Southeastern Conference foe Ole Miss, when she handed out a career-high 48 assists, while grabbing seven digs and recording a pair of kills. In the tournament finale against Mercer, also a 3-1 JSU win, she had 38 assists and 15 digs for her second double-double of the weekend.
 
Just three weeks into her collegiate career, Hart currently ranks fifth in the OVC with an average of 8.97 assists per set, while her 314 total assists are sixth in the league. She is also seventh in the conference with 0.34 service aces per set.
 
The Gamecocks start a busy week of in-state action Tuesday, when they travel to Montgomery to take on Alabama State at 7 p.m. Live state are available at www.sidearmstats.com/alasu/wvball/.  JSU will spend the weekend in Auburn at the War Eagle Invitational, where it will open play against Northwestern State at 4 p.m. Friday before playing two matches on Saturday. The Gamecocks will take on the host Tigers at 12 p.m. before facing Florida A&M at 5 p.m.
