NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Jacksonville State men's tennis team suffered a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to Eastern Kentucky in the semifinals of the OVC Men's Tennis Championships on Saturday. The neck-and-neck match lasted more than four hours, coming down to the wire with the final singles competition.

The Gamecocks jumped out to a 1-0 lead after scoring the doubles victory, but Eastern Kentucky did not allow JSU to gain more than a one-point lead the entire night. Ramon Van Flyman tied the match 1-1 following a victory over senior
Jaryd Reese at No. 1, but senior
Mathias Chaim put the Gamecocks back ahead, 2-1, with a win a No. 3.

Eastern Kentucky's Sebastian Mueller picked up a win at No. 2, and JSU's
Felix Morck kept the advantage with a win at No. 5.

The Colonels' Diego Asis picked up a pivotal win in the No. 6 match to tie the contest 3-3. At that point, all eyes were on the No. 4 match between JSU's
Paolo Cucalon and EKU's Parth Aggarwal. Aggarwal took the first set 6-4, while Cucalon battled back to take the second set 7-6 following a 7-5 playoff. Aggarwal claimed the point and the match with a 7-6 third set.
