2017 JSU Soccer Schedule

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State soccer team unveiled its schedule for the 2017 season with 50 days away from the beginning of the 23^rd season in the program's history.

The Gamecocks, led by fifth-year head coach Neil Macdonald will begin the 18-match campaign against in-state rival Alabama on Friday, August 18 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  JSU will play the first of eight regular season matches the following Sunday against another in-state program, Alabama State.  JSU and UAB will play a friendly prior to the start of the regular season on Friday, Aug. 11 at the JSU Soccer Field.  Match time is set for 7 p.m.

The ASU contest begins a three-match homestand for Jax State to wrap up the first month of the season.  Middle Tennessee State and Georgia State will visit on the final weekend of August.  Following the three home matches, JSU will embark on its longest road stretch of the slate, beginning with a trip to Mobile, Alabama to face another pair of in-state clubs.  The Red and White will face off with longtime rival Troy (Sept. 1) in the first match of the South Alabama Invitational.  JSU will close out the weekend against the host Jaguars on Sept. 3.  USA is one of three sides that earned a trip to the 2016 NCAA Tournament, joining the Hornets of ASU, who won the Southwestern Athletic Conference and Ohio Valley Conference Champion, SIU Edwardsville.  The Gamecocks wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule with a weekend trip to the state of Louisiana to face Louisiana Monroe (Sept. 18) before traveling to Ruston, Louisiana to take on Louisiana Tech (Sept. 10).

Jax State's 10-game OVC schedule features three of the first four league matches at the JSU Soccer Field.  After opening against UT Martin on the road (Sept. 15), the Gamecocks will close out the month of September with three consecutive OVC home tilts.  Tennessee Tech will visit campus on Sept. 17, followed by Murray State on Sept.24 and Austin Peay on Sept. 29.

JSu will visit Belmont in Nashville, Tennessee on Oct. 1, followed by a weekend trek to SIUE (Oct. 6) and Eastern Illinois (Oct. 8).  JSU's final two home matches will be against Eastern Kentucky on Oct.13 and hosting Morehead State on Oct. 15.  The regular season finale will be a trip to Cape Girardeau, Missouri on October 22 versus Southeast Missouri.

The OVC Women's Soccer Championship will expand from six to eight teams beginning in 2017 and be played Oct. 27, 29, Nov. 3 & 5. The championship will begin on Friday and include games between the No. 5/8 and No. 6/7 seeds, with the winners advancing to play the No. 3 and 4 seeds on Sunday; all games in the first two rounds will be hosted by the better seed in each matchup. The No. 1 seed (who will receive a bye to the semifinals along with the No. 2 seed) will host the semifinals and final the following Friday and Sunday.
