JACKSONVILLE – It will be a busy night surrounding Jacksonville State's home contest with Austin Peay as JSU will honor its two seniors, offer free pizza to JSU students and wrapping up the program's philanthropy project – Lace Up for the Cure, which brings awareness to pediatric cancer.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. with senior night activities beginning at 6:40 p.m.  Admission is free to all JSU soccer matches. The match will also be available on the OVC Digital Network.
The Gamecocks will honor goalkeeper
Caroline Robinson and forward
Kayla Thompson as the four-year members of the program begin their descent with the program.  Robinson will exit the program as one of the top keepers the program has produced in recent years.  The Hendersonville, Tennessee stopper ranks third all-time in career shutouts with 13.5 heading in to Friday's duel with the Governors.  Robinson's start in goal on Friday will be her 65th in manning the net, which puts her on the program's all-time career matches-played chart.  She begins the weekend with 283 career saves which also moves her into third place all-time total saves.  Robinson needs eight stops to match former Gamecock keeper Katelyn Geddings (200-12) and she within reach of the all-time career saves mark of 306, held by Adriana Finelli, who played at JSU from 1998-2001.
Thompson has also been a key component to not only the soccer program, but as a two-sport athlete at JSU as a member of the track and field team.  Thompson, from Brandon, Mississippi, has played in 61 career matches and has tallied 60 shots.  She has recorded six career goals, including a pair in one match against Mississippi Valley State as a freshman in 2014.  Thompson has been credited with 11 career assists in over 2,000 minutes of action on the pitch.
The Robinson and Thompson were members of the 2014 club that advanced to the championship match of the 2014 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  Robinson actually advanced Jax State with the winning penalty kick in the opening round match against UT Martin.
Friday night the Gamecocks (3-6-2, 0-3 OVC) welcome all JSU students to the JSU Soccer Field for free pizza prior to the match as part of SGA Night.
The Gamecocks will also be sporting gold laces against APSU as it joins programs around the nation in support of pediatric cancer.  The program has raised nearly $1,500 through t-shirt sales and an online auction through Facebook.  JSU is partnering with the program – Go4theGoal, which raises awareness about pediatric cancer.  The mission of the program is to improve the lives of children battling cancer by providing financial support, developing and implementing unique hospital programs, funding innovative research, and granting personal wishes. Through our first hand experience with pediatric cancer and our medical background, Go4theGoal provides the best practices to patients, their families, and the hospitals and staff that care for them.
The online auction, which feature a variety of JSU apparel and gift cards, will end on Friday at 12 p.m.
