JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State soccer program has added its third incoming player from north of the border with Nyeemah Beckles becoming a Gamecock after finalizing her NCAA National Letter of Intent.
Beckles, from Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, joins
Aneesa O'Brien (Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada) and
Emma Hafenbrak (Winnipeg, Ontario, Canada) who inked with Jax State earlier in the recruiting cycle. With the addition of the three new faces from Canada, JSU will have six players from the neighbor to the north.
She prepped at the R.S. McLaughlin Collegiate and Vocational Institute in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. Beckles played for coach Lizotte on the high school level. She also participated in track and field, badminton and volleyball. She helped the Trojan volleyball squad to a Lake Ontario Secondary School Championship. On the track, Beckles guided McLaughlin to a Ontario Federation of Schools title.
Played on the pitch with Oshawa Turul Soccer Club and FC Durham Academy. She joined the OTSC in 2012 before making the move to FCDA in 2018. Beckles was named the 2014 Frank Sobil Spring Classic Most Valuable Player and guided her club to a second-place finish in the 2016 Challenge Brossard. In 2019 with FCDA, Beckles scored 19 goals in 18 games.
