Soccer Hosts New Mexico State for Alumni Appreciation, Mental Health Awareness Night

JACKSONVILLE — The Jax State soccer team prepares to host the New Mexico State Aggies in its only match of the week on Saturday, October 4. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from the Jax State Soccer Complex. The match will be Jax State's Alumni Appreciation Night as well as its Mental Health Awareness Night.

Jax State brings a 6-5-2 record into the match, including a record of 0-3-0 in Conference USA play, after falling to the Florida International Panthers on Sunday. After falling behind 2-0, Louise Featherstone scored on a set piece from Alessia Donia to cut the lead in half, but the Gamecocks could not find the equalizer behind FIU's defense.

New Mexico State is 1-10-2 on the year, and is 0-1-2 in CUSA play. The Aggies' lone win of the season came against Abilene Christian in the second game of the season, a 1-0 victory in Las Cruces.

The Aggies hold a 5-0-0 advantage all-time over the Gamecocks. The two met for the first time in the 2010 in Las Cruces as the first part of a home-and-home series, with the return trip to Jacksonville taking place in 2011. NMSU won both of those matches, 2-1. The first meeting between the two as CUSA opponents was in 2023 in Jacksonville, with the Aggies winning 2-0. Last season, the two squads met twice, once in Las Cruces in the regular season, then once in Miami in the CUSA tournament. NMSU won both matches, 4-1.

The match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Jax State Soccer Complex, and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
