Gamecock Soccer Faces Eastern Illinois in Final Road Match

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State soccer team will make its final road trip of the regular season with a visit to Eastern Illinois on Tuesday afternoon.

Match time is set for 2 p.m. at EIU's Lakeside Field in Charleston, Illinois. The match will be available on ESPN+.

The Gamecocks (3-3-1) will be looking to keep its unbeaten streak alive as they have posted three winning results in the last four matches. The lone tie on the docket came last Tuesday in Martin, Tennessee with a 1-1 draw with UT Martin. Jax State came from behind to down Morehead State, 3-1, in its last outing at home last Friday. The Panthers will be closing out their home slate on Tuesday and enters the contest at 1-6-1 overall. EIU recorded a 1-1 draw in its last action. JSU looks to avenge a 3-1 setback last season to the Panthers. EIU owns a 9-6-3 record between the two programs.

The Gamecocks are led by senior Alicia Pallister, who leads the OVC in assists with six on the season. Palliser also has two goals on the season. Both goals were registered in JSU's 4-0 shutout of EKU. Her efforts in that contest led to her being named the OVC Offensive Player of the Week (March 21). Sophomore Cynthia Bagozzi leads the club in goals with four on the season, while sophomore Gabriel Clarke has collected three goals on the season, including a pair of scoring plays versus the Colonels.

As a team, JSU ranks among the league leaders in many statistical categories. The Gamecocks rank third in the OVC in total shots and points, while ranking second in goals per match and assists. In the NCAA statistical rankings, JSU ranks in the top-15 in shots on goal per game.

Following the trek to EIU, the Gamecocks will play their final two matches on the home pitch with hopes of securing one of the four spots in the Ohio Valley Conference Soccer Championship. Entering Tuesday's match, JSU has compiled 10 points, sharing fifth place in the league standings with UTM.

JSU will host Tennessee Tech on Friday, April 2 before closing out the regular season against SIU Edwardsville on Tuesday, April 6. Both matches will start at 3 p.m. Admission is free to all JSU soccer matches.
