JSU Soccer Travels to Austin Peay for Tuesday Tilt

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State soccer team hits the road again for the second consecutive match with a Tuesday tilt against Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Match time is set for 2 p.m. from the APSU campus and will be streamed on ESPN+. Live stats will also be available on JSUGamecockSports.com.

Tuesday's match is the second of three straight road outings for the Gamecocks. JSU fell 3-1 last Friday night to Southeast Missouri and will wrap up the road trip next week against Eastern Kentucky. JSU's next home match is set for Friday, March 19 versus Murray State.

Both clubs will be looking for their first win of the season as APSU and Jax State have dropped the first two outings of the season. The Gamecocks suffered a 2-1 overtime setback against Belmont before the road loss at SEMO. The Govs fell to Tennessee Tech and SIU Edwardsville in their first two outings of the season.

The Gamecocks have two second half goals in the first two matches with sophomore Cynthia Bagozzi turning in a goal against Belmont. JSU junior Cephana Deane connected on a header early in the second half against the Redhawks. Bagozzi ranks second on the team in total shots, one behind team leader freshman Kylie Well. Freshman Ida Cederberg and senior Alicia Pallister have recorded assists this season.

JSU ranks among the Ohio Valley Conference leaders in total shots with 27 in two matches and are averaging over 13 shots per match. The Gamecocks rank second in the OVC in corner kick opportunities with 14 chances.

Jax State has used two different goalkeepers in each of the first two matches. Against Belmont, redshirt junior Morgan Lerch made the start in goal, while freshman Aneesa O'Brien started in her first career start versus SEMO.
