CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Jacksonville State soccer team and Chattanooga played just over 58 minutes of a friendly match at the UTC Sports Complex before weather in the area forced the match to be canceled.
The Mocs and Gamecocks played to a scoreless draw in the 58-plus minutes on the pitch. Jax State will return to exhibition play on Sunday, August 15, hosting Georgia State at the JSU Soccer Field. Match time is set for 7 p.m. and admission to all JSU soccer matches is free.
Head coach
Neil Macdonald used the first exhibition to see how far along his club is in the preseason after just over a week of training ahead of the 2021 season opener against Alabama.
"Chattanooga is a really good side and I was very pleased with how we played tonight against them. Both teams had some chances to score, but I really think we both canceled each other out," said head coach
Neil Macdonald. "I was very pleased with the effort and we got to see many players out there and put all the pieces out on the field."
JSU put together a line up mixed with veteran players and a few of the new faces in the program.
"I really thought our new players played well while they were out there," added Macdonald.
