JACKSONVILLE – The 2022-23 debut for the Jacksonville State rifle team will be put on hold now that the season-opening matches in Charleston, South Carolina have been postponed due to Hurricane Ian's track up the east coast.
The Gamecocks, ranked 12th nationally, were scheduled to open the 2022-23 season against The Citadel on Saturday and Sunday, but now will have to wait until October 16 to begin the season. JSU will travel to Statesboro, Georgia on October 16 for a match with Georgia Southern.
The 2022-23 rifle schedule is set with another tough slate for the Gamecocks. The club will have seven outings in the fall portion of the schedule and return after the break for five matches in advance of the NCAA Qualifier, which will be held inside Rowe Hall on the JSU campus in February. Highlighting the schedule will be matches with nationally-ranked Murray State, Memphis and the annual Gamecock Invitational that will be held in November to close out the fall slate.
JSU's first home date is set for November 5 against the Tigers of Memphis.

Ron Frost. The veteran coach has three new faces on the 2022-23 team, including a transfer from North Carolina State,
Sam Burrow. The other newcomers are
