JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State rifle team capped off its third-and-final meeting of the season against The Citadel on Saturday inside Rowe Hall at the Gamecock Rifle Range.
The Gamecocks fired a combined score of 4684 after posting a 2360 in air rifle and added a 2324 in smallbore. The Bulldogs turned in a 4559 overall on Saturday.
Sophomore
Frans Rasmusson led Jax State with the best individual aggregate with an 1176. He recorded the top scores in both air rifle and smallbore. Rasmusson was nearly perfect in air rifle with a 592. He then added the top score in smallbore with a 584.
Freshman
Jenny Ek turned in solid numbers on Saturday with a 590 in air rifle and a 581 in smallbore to accumulate an 1170 and share second place with Jax State's
Alex Watts. Watts matched Ek with an 1170 after turning in a 590 in air rifle and a 580 in smallbore.
The Gamecocks claimed the top-six individual spots on the individual leaderboard. Seniors
Kim Jettenberg,
Clark McWhorter and
Sam Burrow rounded out the top-six individuals. The trio bolstered Jax State's overall score as Jettenberg registered an 1169, McWhorter was one back at 1169, while Burrow collected an 1167. McWhorter claimed second in smallbore with a 581, while Jettenberg recorded a 590 in air rifle.
Jax State returns to action on February 16 with a neural site match with Murray State. The two clubs will meet in Oxford, Mississippi on the Ole Miss campus.
