JACKSONVILLE – The 15th-ranked Jacksonville State rifle team matched its season best aggregate score in its first action after the semester break with a 4679 in a dual match with The Citadel on Saturday in the Gamecock Rifle Range inside Rowe Hall on the Jax State campus.

The Gamecocks fired a 2347 in air rifle and added a 2323 in smallbore to edge the Bulldogs on Saturday. The Citadel combined for a school record 4648 on Saturday with a 2337 in air rifle and a 2311 in smallbore. Both of those scores turned in are also the best in program at The Citadel. James Hart IV of The Citadel claimed the top overall score with a combined mark of 1175 after posting a 594 in air rifle and a 581 in smallbore. He shared the top air rifle score with JSU freshman Annie Iannotti, who also turned in a 594.

Following James' top aggregate, JSU claimed the next four spots in the overall individual leaders list, led by junior Kim Jettenberg. She combined a 589 in air rifle and a 580 in smallbore to finish six marks back of James with an 1169. Sophomore Angus Babcock fired the top score in smallbore with a 583 and added a 584 in smallbore to claim third place with an 1167.

Jax State sophomore Sam Burrow and junior Lars Lilleng rounded out the top-five individuals as both carded a final tally of 1164. Burrow recorded a 583 in smallbore and a 581 in air rifle. Lilleng registered a 588 in air rifle to bolster JSU's team mark and finished the day with a 576 in smallbore.

Freshman Kyle Orr, competing against a school from his home state of South Carolina, finished eighth overall with a 577 in both sections of the match.

Jax State returns to action next Saturday, January 21 in Murray, Kentucky to face the Racers of Murray State.
