MURRAY, Ky. – In a duel between two top-15 programs a a pair of former conference rivals, the 15th-ranked Jacksonville State rifle team downed No. 7 Murray State inside the Racers home range on Sunday.
The Gamecocks edged the Racers by 25 points after combining a 2349 in air rifle and a 2312 in smallbore for an aggregate of 4661. MSU posted a final total of 4636 after a 2332 in air rifle and a 2304 in smallbore.
Jax State turned in seven of the top-10 individual marks, led by freshman
Kyle Orr placing third. Orr finished the match with an 1167 after firing a 590 in air rifle and a 577 in smallbore. His air rifle mark was second among all individuals. Another Jax State freshman finished right behind Orr as
Annie Iannotti claimed fourth place with an 1166. Her match was highlighted by the best score in air rifle with a 595. She added a 571 in smallbore. Sophomore
Sam Burrow rounded out the top-five on the individual list with an 1163. Burrow recorded a 587 in air rifle and a 576 in smallbore.

Michael Dietz all finished in the top-10. Jettenberg boosted Jax State's smallbore score with a 582, which was second on the smallbore top-10 list. She finished sixth overall with a final tally of 1159 after adding a 577 in air rifle. Babcock turned in a 587 in air rifle and a 570 for an 1157 in the match, while Lilleng and Dietz rounded out the JSU scores with an 1157 and 1147 respectively.
JSU will return to action next Saturday, hosting another former Ohio Valley Conference foe with Morehead State visiting the Gamecock Rifle Range inside Rowe Hall on the Jax State campus.
