JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State head coach Sean Fraser didn't need to go far for the newest members of the soccer program by adding three student athletes from the state of Georgia during the NCAA fall signing period that began on Wednesday.
Fraser inked Abby Cole from Cumming, Ga. and high school teammates Camdyn Magrosky and Alexis Castle from Woodstock, Ga. Cole will add depth at the midfield position for Jax State, while Castle is a defender. Magrosky will bolster the goalkeeper position for the Gamecocks. Magrosky and Castle attend Etowah High School.
Cole preps at South Forsyth High School and a member of the War Eagles' soccer program. She earned Region 6 AAAAAAA First Team honors as a junior and was named the most valuable player on the War Eagles' squad. Cole has trained with the Geogia Olympic Development Program and has participated in the ECNL with the Concorde Fire ECNL Premier 06. She has been involved with the U.S Soccer Development Academy.
"Abby (Cole) is a player that fits the model we want to play with. She is an all-action midfield player with great energy and an ability to connect the dots on the field," said Sean Fraser. "I can't wait to see her learn and develop alongside our current midfielders and think she will be a great addition to that group. Abby's parents both attended Jax State "back in the day" and when we begin recruiting Abby it became apparent that she saw this as home. I can't wait to have Abby with us."
Magrosky is a Region 6 AAAAAA performer for EHS and was tabbed the Eagles' Most Valuable Player as a junior. She was named the club's defensive player of the year. Magrosky, playing with the Concorde Fire ECNL Platinum 06, helped the club team claim four Southeast Conference titles.
"I saw Camdyn (Magrosky) play with her club team and quickly realized that not only is she a talented goalkeeper but she is a first-class teammate, added Fraser. "Our goalkeeper department has been short in numbers this past year so Camdyn will immediately make that area of our team more competitive. I know Kacey and Bailey are excited to have Camdyn join their little goalkeeper union," mentioned Fraser.
Her teammate, Castle is a three-time defensive most valuable player selection for 2021, 2022 and 2023 and has been earned scholar athlete honors in those same years. Castle was named to the ECNL All-Southeast Conference Team in 2021-22 as a member of the Concorde Fire ECNL Premier 06 along with Cole.
"Alexis (Castle) is an old fashioned shut down defender with great athleticism and an ability to play multiple positions for us," Fraser said. "I have watched Alexis defend against some really high-level players this past year and she has done brilliantly against those challenges. I firmly believe that over her career Lexi will not only be a great player but will be an exceptional teammate."
