LEXINGTON, Va. – Sophomore
Angus Babcock led the No. 15 Jacksonville State rifle team in a tri-match with No. 10 Akron and Virginia Military Institute on Saturday, hosted by VMI.
The Gamecocks finished the day shooting an aggregate score of 4669 after turning in a 2358 in air rifle and a 2311 in smallbore. The Zips combined for a 4717, while the scores for host-VMI were not reported to the NCAA scoring system.
Babcock, from Lithia Springs, Georgia, combined a 590 in air rifle and a 578 in smallbore to record a team-best 1168. Junior
Kim Jettenberg matched Babcock in the final aggregate mark after a 586 in air rifle and a 582 in smallbore. Junior
Lars Lilleng rounded out Jax State's top-10 performances with a final tally of 1164.
Freshman
Annie Iannotti continued her sharp aim in air rifle with a 595 on Saturday. A week ago, the Oxford, Alabama native fired a 598 inside the Gamecock Rifle Range against Morehead State.
Sophomore
Sam Burrow added a 573 to JSU's smallbore mark, while freshman
Kyle Orr posted a 563 in smallbore. Senior
Kaila Jones turned in a 567 in air rifle.
The Gamecocks will have one more tune up prior to the NCAA Qualifier match on the JSU campus on February 18. Jax State will meet the Racers of Murray State on Sunday, February 12 in a neutral site setting in Oxford, Mississippi.
