DALLAS, TX. – Women's tennis's Ella Tuomela and Polina Ramenskaja were named the CUSA Doubles Team of the Week for their efforts last week against Sam Houston and Murray State.
 
Tuomela and Ramenskaja teamed up for a 2-0 in the No. 1 slot against the Bearkats and Racers. The Gamecocks' duo downed Sam Houston's Jacqueline Schnabel and Nyuma Subba 6-3 on Friday, March 14. Tuomela and Ramenskaja then defeated Murray's Valeria Chaikovskaia and Bruna Melato 7-5 in a hard-fought match on Saturday, March 15.
 
The matches last weekend were the first two matches of the season that Ramenskaja and Tuomela have been paired in.
 
Tuomela has an overall 5-2 record in doubles play this season, while Ramenskaja is 6-2 in doubles for the year. Ramenskaja also has a 5-5 record in singles play. Tuomela is 1-1 in solo action this spring.
 
Women's tennis returns to the courts Tuesday, March 25, at West Florida. Following that match, the Gamecocks go to South Alabama on Wednesday, March 26.
