Women's Tennis Set to Play Sam Houston in CUSA First Round

LYNCHBURG, VA. – Jacksonville State women's tennis is set for the first round of the 2025 Conference USA Tournament. The Gamecocks will take on Sam Houston at 9 am on Wednesday in Lynchburg, Va.
 
The Red-and-White went 9-7 this year after their final match of the season against Kennesaw State was canceled before it was concluded due to inclement weather. Meanwhile, Sam Houston is 5-11 this season and lost their last match of the year to Liberty on April 13 by a score of 4-0.
 
The Gamecocks and Bearkats previously faced one another on Friday, March 14, in Jacksonville. Jax State took that match in a 4-0 win.
 
The Gamecocks are led by Zuzana Pavelekova in singles play who is 11-3 this spring. Some other standouts include Irene Artigas and Anna Syrova both at 8-4, Polina Ramenskaja at 8-6, Aneka Patel at 5-3, Ella Tuomela at 3-2, and Ava Thomason at 1-0. Overall, Jax State is 49-30 in singles.
 
Artigas and Patel pace the Gamecocks in doubles action with an 8-5 mark on the year. Pavelekova and Syrova have combined for a 4-2 record, Ramenskaja and Tuomela are also 4-2, Erenda and Ramenskaja are 3-2, and Tuomela and Thomason are 1-0 together.
 
Christine Jevicky leads the Bearkats with a 5-3 record in singles. Nayuma Subba is 5-7, Adithi Venkatakrishnan is 5-8, Sara Sadadinovic is 4-6, and and Aaliyah Hohmann has the only other winning record at 3-2. Sam Houston is 24-37 as a team in singles.
 
Sadadinovic and Hohmann are 3-2 in doubles, Jevicky and Venkatakrishnan are 5-5, Ella Fitcher and Venkatakrishnan are 1-0, Subba and Jacqueline Schnabel are 4-5, and Sadadinovic and Fitcher are 1-0. The Bearkats are 15-18 in doubles.
 
With the tournament being win and advance, the winner of the Sam Houston versus Jax State match would move on to play Middle Tennessee on Thursday at 10 a.m.
