Box Score 2 MARIETTA, Ga. – Jacksonville State picked up its second Conference USA series of the season and the first away from Rudy Abbott Field at Jim Case Stadium after claiming the nightcap, 8-6, of a Saturday doubleheader against Kennesaw State.
After a six-run sixth inning propelled Jax State to a series-opening, 6-5, win over the Owls on Friday, KSU bounced-back with a 6-4 walk off win in 11 innings in game one on Saturday. The Gamecocks regrouped 45 minutes later with a fast start in the first five innings of the rubber match.
Jax State jumped out to a 6-0 lead after five innings, aided by six walks by the Owls first three pitchers. The Gamecocks got on the board with a run in the second, added two in the third and extended the lead with a three-run fifth.
While the Gamecocks were putting runs on the scoreboard, junior
James Wilson faced the minimum through the first five innings before KSU's first hit and run came on a leadoff home run to start the sixth. Wilson, who picked up his second win of the season, matches his season-high in strikeouts with six.
After a two-run double from redshirt sophomore
Cooper Blauser delivered a key double to push the lead to 8-1. Blauser finished with three hits, including another double in the final game. It's the third three-hit contest for the Alpharetta, Georgia native.
Jax State would need those extra runs after KSU's offense came to life with a five-run seventh inning.

Jaxson Davis picked up his first save in a Jax State uniform with a two-inning save.
In the opener, the Gamecocks powered their way back from a 3-0 deficit with a two-run home run by junior
Caleb Johnson and junior
Carson Hornung tied the game with a solo blast. After KSU broke the 3-3 deadlock with a run in the eighth, Jax State was down to its last at bat. Freshman
Matthew Cash started the ninth with a walk and after being moved into scoring position, junior
Ace Williamson produced an RBI single to extend the game to extra frames.
Jax State will return to the Peach State on Tuesday with a Tuesday contest at Georgia State. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. CT. The Gamecocks return to their turf next weekend, hosting the Patriots of Dallas Baptist University in a CUSA home series. The series begins on Friday, April 11 at 6 p.m.
