PEORIA, Ill. – The Jacksonville State volleyball team is looking to carry winning momentum into this weekend's Bradley Family Weekend Tournament. The Gamecocks went 2-1 against Cincinnati, Ohio, and Chattanooga in last weekend's Chattanooga Classic.

Luci Wilkinson brought home this past week's CUSA Defensive Player of the Week thanks to her efforts in Chattanooga. Wilkinson had 62 digs over the three games on an average of 5.17 digs per set, including 32 against Ohio.

Kayla Williams shined in the Volunteer State. Williams led the Gamecocks' offensive attack with 47 kills on 3.92 kills per game over the three games. Freshman setter

Scouting Bradley: The Bradley Braves are 3-3 on the season after the first two weeks of action. The Braves hosted the CEFCU Invitational to start the year where they went 2-1. Bradley lost their first match of the season to UT-Arlington 3-2 on Aug. 29, but they quickly got into the win column with a 3-1 victory over Quinnipiac on Aug. 30. The Braves wrapped up the CEFCU Invitational with a 3-0 sweep of Western Illinois later in the day on Aug. 30. The Braves then moved onto the Blue Ridge Volleyball Classic where they went 1-2. Bradley downed the College of Charleston 3-2 on Sep. 5, then fell 3-1 to Charlotte that same day. Bradley lost to Western Carolina 3-2 on Sep. 6. Jax State has a 2-1 record against the Braves all-time. Bradley won the last matchup 3-0 on Sep. 8, 2023.

Scouting Kansas City: The Kansas City Kangaroos sit at 0-6 thus far after outings in Radford's Highlander Invitational and Southern Illinois's Saluki Bash. Kansas City lost 3-0 against Marshall and Radford on Aug. 29 before dropping a match against Eastern Michigan 3-2 on Aug. 30. In the Saluki Bash, Kansas City lost 3-0 to Eastern Illinois and Southern Illinois on Sep. 5 and 3-0 to New Mexico State on Sep. 6. The Kangaroos were picked to finish ninth in the Summit League in the conference's preseason poll. The Gamecocks and Kangaroos are tied 1-1 all-time. Kansas City won the last meeting 3-0 on Sep. 18, 1998.

Scouting Central Michigan: Central Michigan is currently 2-4 after BYU's doTERRA Classic and the Panther Invitational. Central Michigan opened the season with a 3-1 win over High Point on Aug. 29, then they lost 3-1 to No. 19 ranked BYU on Aug. 29 in the doTERRA Classic. The Chippewas then finished the classic with a 3-1 loss against Farleigh Dickinson on Aug. 30. In Milwaukee's Panther Invitational Iowa State defeated the Chippewas 3-0 on Sep. 5. Later on Sep. 5, South Alabama beat Central Michigan 3-1. Central Michigan beat the hosts Milwaukee on Sep. 6 3-0. The Chippewas were picked to finish third in the MAC in the league's preseason poll. Central Michigan's Natalia Rejment and Grace Thomas were chosen for the 2025 Preseason All-MAC Team. Saturday's match against the Chippewas will mark the first time Jax State has ever faced Central Michigan in volleyball.
