JACKSONVILLE – Jax State men's tennis downed Mississippi College 6-1 in their first home match of the 2026 season on Thursday.
The match started with the Gamecocks cruising to the doubles point.
Lucius Soller and
Zach Murphy earned a 6-3 win on doubles court one to get the day going for Jax State. Jax State's doubles teams on court two and three both won 6-4.
On court two,
Aman Dahiya and
Timo De Visser defeated Mississippi's Charles Lefort and Sergio Ramirez Ocana. On court three
Alin Fatu and
David Krasner beat Mikayel Avanesyan and Joshua Hinton.
Murphy highlighted the singles matches for the Gamecocks. Murphy beat Ramirez Ocana on court five in straight-sets by a score of 6-0 in both sets. Dahiya and
Charlie Penman also took straight-set wins in singles play. Penman beat Matias Ruiz 6-0, 6-4 on court one. Dahiya downed Avanesyan 6-2, 6-3 on court three.
On court two, Krasner won a tight match against Mississippi College's Mattia Ricci. Krasner took the first set 6-4, but Ricci tied it up at 7-6 in the second set. Krasner clinched the win with a 6-4 triumph in the third.
De Visser also played in a competitive match on court four. De Visser controlled the first set with a 6-1 win. Mississippi College's Simon Pfau took the second set 7-6 over De Visser sending the match to decisive third set. De Visser dominated the third set blanking Pfau 6-0 to put Jax State up 6-0.
Matei Palcau fell in straight-sets to Florian Walcher on court six by a score of 6-3 in both the first and second sets.
Jax State moves on to host Lee University on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Jax State Tennis Courts.
