Box Score

MIAMI – The Jax State Soccer team fell to FIU, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon in a Conference USA match-up. The Gamecocks fall to 3-7-3 and 0-2-1 in league play, while the Panthers improve to 4-5-3 and 1-2-0 in league play. Jax State struck first but could not find the equalizer in the end.

The first half was dominated by the Panthers, but regardless of FIU doubling Jax States shots, both teams found the back of the net. Rebecca Sierra-Burciaga started the scoring off with a beautiful shot right outside the box at the 9' mark. FIU's, Adria Kitzinger, scored the tying goal at the 27' mark.

The offensive output in the second half by both squads was more equal, with the Panthers having six shots to the Gamecock's five. The difference in the game was a miscue by the Gamecocks on a header at the 56' mark, allowing FIU's Mariana Barreto to push the game-winner through the posts. Jax State had an opportunity with just a few seconds left and missed just barely outside.

Jax State's goalie, Camdyn Magrosky, had five first half saves and seven total saves. The Gamecocks had two players play all 90 minutes, and FIU had five players play the whole game.

Jax State will come back home to play Kennesaw State at the Jax State Soccer Complex at 5pm. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
