DALLAS, Texas - Steven Cash was named Conference USA's Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Steven Cash had a spectacular bounce-back performance against Toledo, tossing for 6.2 scoreless innings against Toledo in his Saturday start against the Rockets. Cash struck out nine batters in his outing, the second-most in his career, one shy of tying his career-high. Cash also only gave up two hits and did not allow a runner to move past second base during his time on Saturday. The Centerville, Alabama, native tossed the 100th strikeout of his career in the top of the third inning. He only allowed batters to hit just .091 against him in Jax State's series-clinching victory.
The Gamecocks will return to action on Tuesday, February 24, for midweek two-game set against Mississippi Valley State. First pitch for Tuesday is set for 4 p.m., while Wednesday's first pitch is set for 11 a.m.
