Biography

2012: Appeared in 53 of the Gamecocks’ 56 games as a junior and was in the starting lineup 41 times…served most of the season as the Gamecocks’ starting second baseman…hit. 258 with five doubles, two home runs and 14 RBI on the season…in league play, held a .259 batting average with two doubles and one homer…at Alabama State on May 1, tied a school record with four runs scored on a day that saw her go 4-for-4 with six RBI, the fourth-most in a game in school history…went 5-for-8 in a doubleheader at Tennessee Tech on March 21...was 3-for-7 with the bases loaded on the year and was a .500 hitter with runners at second and third with less than two out.

2011: Played in 60 of the Gamecocks’ 61 games as a sophomore, starting 58 of them…split time as the team’s designated hitter and left fielder…hit .266 with five doubles, two triples, 10 home runs and 27 RBI…in OVC games, was a .273 hitter with two doubles, a triple, seven homers and 17 RBI…hit .364 with a double, triple and two RBI in the OVC Tournament…was 3-for-6 on the year with the bases loaded and hit .556 with runners on third and less than two out…recorded 13 multi-hit games, including two three-hit outings…went 3-for-3 with two RBI at Kennesaw State on March 1 and was 3-for-5 with a double, homer and two RBI at Eastern Kentucky on March 12…drove in three runs twice, at SIUE on April 2 and vs. Tennessee State on April 12.

2010: Played in 42 of the Gamecocks’ 49 games as a true freshman and was in the starting lineup for 28 of them…saw some time at second base early in the season but served as the team’s primary designated hitter down the stretch…had her biggest game at the right time, going 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double and five RBI in the OVC Championship game on May 15…her two home runs and 10 total bases both tied school single-game records…on the year, posted a .258 average with six home runs and 22 RBI…in OVC play, hit .292 with three homers and 12 RBI…notched her first collegiate hit against Southern on Feb. 27, when she went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI…had four three-hit games, tying her for the most on the team, while recording six multi-RBI games.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played six seasons for head coach Alan Reach at Tuscaloosa County High School…was a four-time Golden Glove Award in all four years on the varsity team…guided the Wildcats to a 51-12 record in her senior season…led TCHS to four area crowns, a north regional title and six trips to the AHSAA Class 6A State Tournament…played travel softball for the Alabama Crusaders Gold and the Birmingham Vipers, who she led to a top 20 finish at the 18U ASA Gold Nationals.

PERSONAL: Born on June 17, 1991, in Ocala, Fla…the daughter of Chip and Lisa Johnston…has an older brother, Stephen …is majoring in criminal justice at JSU.
