Biography

2012: Made seven appearances in the circle as a junior before an arm injury limited her to pinch running duties the remainder of the season…went 1-3 in the circle but boasted a 2.62 earned run average…struck out 33 opposing batters in 32.0 innings and limited opposing hitters to a .264 average…was tough on lefties, holding them to a .182 average…went 1-1 in OVC play with a 2.55 ERA…tossed six innings three times, all in the opening weekend of the season…struck out 10 batters in a 3-0 loss to No. 2 Alabama on Feb. 12, one day after striking out eight Mississippi State batters in relief…scored eight runs as a pinch runner.

2011: Made 19 appearances in the circle for the Gamecocks as a sophomore, and posted a 7-0 record and a 2.25 ERA, both team bests…started four games and tossed one complete game shutout, a five-hitter of Austin Peay on April 16…in OVC play, she was 3-0 with a 2.43 ERA…opponents hit .242 against her, second-best on the team…struck out five batters and tossed seven innings against APSU in that shutout, both season highs…opened the season by defeating UAB in Birmingham, allowing one earned run in three innings…tossed the final 6.2 innings of the OVC Championship game on May 15 to earn the win.

2010: Made 26 appearances in the circle as a true freshman for the Gamecocks, getting the starting nod 15 times…posted a 9-10 record and a 3.32 earned run average, while tossing nine complete games and three shutouts…recorded two saves and struck out 88 batters in 109.2 innings…was named the OVC Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 15 after picking up her first collegiate win in her debut on Feb. 14 in a complete-game win over Wright State…struck out seven on Feb. 26 in a three-hit shutout of Southern…fanned a season-best nine in a complete-game two-hitter of Alabama State on April 6…tossed 10 innings at Murray State on March 27 and fanned eight in the process.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped for six seasons under head coach David Hughes at Ider High School in Ider, Ala…was named Alabama’s Miss Softball in 2009 after finishing her career as the state’s all-time leader in wins (194), strikeouts (2,463), no-hitters (34) and shutouts (94)…led the Hornets to three state titles, claiming tournament MVP honors in all three runs…in all six seasons, she won team and area MVP honors…in her senior season, compiled a 28-3 record and only allowed 13 earned runs in 168 innings for a 0.54 ERA while striking out 308 batters and tossing 10 shutouts, three no-hitters and two perfect games…a first team all-state selection in 7th, 9th, 10th 11th and 12th grade seasons…also lettered in volleyball and basketball and guided the Hornet basketball team to the state championship game as a senior…was an honor student and member of the National Honor Society.

PERSONAL: Born on September 13, 1990, in Fort Payne, Ala.…the daughter of Mark and Kristie Phillips…has a younger brother, Heath…was valedictorian of her class at Ider High School…is majoring in nursing at JSU.
