JACKSONVILLE – Ryan Perrilloux scored three touchdowns and Daniel Jackson rushed for 111 yards to lead Jacksonville State to a 35-22 win over Austin Peay in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Saturday.
The Gamecocks improved to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the OVC after securing the school's fifth straight winning season and the 40th in the school history. Austin Peay fell to 1-8 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
“We had our work cut out for us and knew we had our work cut out for us,” said JSU head coach Jack Crowe after the game. “Nobody expected it to be any different, because of the way their games have gone. That's what they have looked like against everybody this season.”
Perrilloux passed for 271 yards and a pair of touchdowns and rushed for 50 yards and another score after leading the Gamecocks to 467 yards of total offense. James Wilkerson finished the game with a career-high 123 receiving yards on eight catches to lead seven different receivers.
Jax State jumped out to an early 14-0 first quarter lead after Perrilloux marched the Gamecocks 74 yards on their opening drive and scored on a 14-yard run. The junior quarterback then connected with Wilkerson on a nine-yard pass on JSU's next possession to cap a 62-yard, seven play drive to give JSU the early advantage.
Austin Peay's John Bell kicked a 22-yard field goal with 1:11 left in the first quarter to cut the lead to 14-3, but Perrilloux connected with Eric Johns on a 4-yard pass on the first play of the second quarter as the Gamecocks extended the lead to 21-3.
The Governors then scored 14 straight points, thanks to a 61-yard touchdown run by Terrence Holt, and Trent Caffee tossed a two-yard pass to Jeff Lyle with just :26 left in the second quarter as APSU cut the lead to 21-16 at the half.
Jax State took the second half kickoff and pushed the lead to 28-16 after Jackson scored on a 23 yard run with 13:17 left in the third quarter, but the Governors answered when Lyle and Caffee hooked up again on a two-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 28-22 at the end of the third quarter.
The Gamecocks scored the final points of the game after Ronald Murray scored on a three-yard run with 6:27 left to seal the win for Jacksonville State.
Ryan White led Austin Peay with 116 yards on 25 carries, while Holt finished with 87 yards on 10 carries. Caffee finished the game throwing for 145 yards and a pair of touchdowns, both to Lyle.
Jacksonville State returns to action next Saturday at Tennessee Tech. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at Tucker Stadium in Cookeville, Tenn.

- With the win today, the Gamecocks posted their sixth straight winning season under Jack Crowe. It was also the 40th winning season for Jacksonville State, since the modern era of JSU football began in 1947.

Gavin Hallford's 5 PAT's moved his JSU career points record to 298. Hallford became JSU's all-time career scoring leader after kicking a 31-yard field goal with 2:09 left in the first quarter against UT-Martin. He passed David Gulledge's career total of 290 points from 1987-90. The Phenix City, Ala., native already holds the OVC career record for most points by kicking and is chasing the all-time record of 322 career points by Markus Thomas (Eastern Kentucky, 1989-92)
- Jack Crowe improved his record at JSU to 55-42 and now is in third place on JSU's career win list and now trails Don Salls (95) and Bill Burgess (84).
- JSU scored a touchdown on its opening drive of the game for the fourth straight game and the fifth time this year. JSU also scored a touchdown on the first drive of the second half, for the second straight contest, marking the second time this season the Gamecocks scored a touchdown on both drives to open the half.
- JSU scored touchdowns on its first three offensive possessions of the game for the first time this season. JSU scored a touchdown and a field goal on its first two possessions last week at UT-Martin.

Ryan Perrilloux scored a rushing touchdown and passed for another to open the game, marking the fifth time this season and the sixth time in his career that he has rushed and thrown for a touchdown in the same game.

Daniel Jackson's 111 yards rushing was his third 100-yard rushing performance this season and the fourth of his career. Jackson rushed for 111 yards against Chattanooga on Sept. 20. and for 122 yards versus Alabama A&M on Sept. 6. It was JSU's fifth 100-yard rushing performance this season. Tremayne Coger rushed for 123 yards versus Eastern Illinois and
Brandon George tallied 114 versus Southeast Missouri State.
- Perrilloux's 291 yards passing was his fifth game this year with 200 or more passing yards.
- JSU had 467 yards of total offense, which was the sixth time this year totaled 400-plus yards on offense.
- JSU is 34-6 overall and 21-2 at Paul Snow Stadium when scoring 30 plus points under Coach Jack Crowe.
