2008 SPRING OUTLOOK: Enters the fall listed as the back-up fullback…one of the most experienced players on the offensive side of the ball for the Gamecocks.
JSU CAREER: (2007) Saw action in all 11 games for the Gamecocks as a junior and started the season opener at fullback…after being converted from an offensive lineman to a fullback, ran the ball 19 times for 91 yards…go his first career carry in that season opener, a Sept. 1 matchup at Alabama State, when he rushed four times for 11 yards…had three carries for a season-high 53 yards, including a season-long 47-yard run, on Sept. 28 at Murray State, a game in which he played both offense and defense…recorded 13 tackles on the year, including six in the Nov. 17 season finale at Southeast Missouri.
(2006) Played in 10 games and started in all 10 for the Gamecocks at center…helped anchor the offensive line that paved the way to Clay Green’s second straight 1,000-yard rushing season…played best game of the season on 10/5 vs. Murray State where he graded out at 90 percent.
(2005) Saw action in 10 of the Gamecocks’ 11 games as a freshman on the offensive line…in all, was on the field for 51 snaps and graded out at 76 percent and had eight knockdowns…helped an offensive line unit that paved the way for the Ohio Valley Conference’top rushing attack and the nation’s 17th-best run game…recorded four tackles on the year, including a career high two against Tennessee Tech on Oct. 27 and Tennessee State on Oct. 22.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Rutherford High School for Steve Hardin…named team captain as a senior…was the Defensive Player of the Year in the Region and first-team All-county after finishing with 10 sacks, 52 tackles an d 13 TFL as a senior…also a weight lifting champion.
PERSONAL: Full name is Ronald Vickery Murray…son of Ronald and Darlene Murray…born on May 21, 1987…has two brothers, Josh and Jeffery, and three sisters, Tanessa, Ceciley and Heather… majoring in Business at JSU.
