JSU CAREER:
2007: Saw action in all 11 games for the Gamecocks as a junior tailback and was in the starting lineup for six of them…carried the ball a team-high 130 times and rushed for 509 yards and an average of 46.3 yards per game, also team highs…caught 21 passes, which was second on the team, for 244 yards…had his best game at Samford on Nov. 3, when he ran for a season-high 103 yards on 18 carries and caught two passes for 15 yards…ran for 80 yards on seven carries against Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 22, a game that featured his longest run of the year, a 66-yard scamper…had 73 yards on the ground on 16 carries in the Nov. 17 season finale at Southeast Missouri.
(2006) Saw action in all 11 games as a sophomore for the Gamecocks as the team’s backup to All-American tailback Clay Green…was second on the squad in rushing with 299 yards and a touchdown on just 60 carries for an average of five yards per rush…averaged 27.2 yards per game…ran for a career-best 77 yards on 10 carries on Sept. 16 against Southeast Missouri…ran for 62 yards and a score on a career-best 12 carries at Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 30…had a season-long 23-yard run against Murray State on Oct. 5…27.7 all-purpose yards per game ranked fifth on the team…recorded one tackle at UT-Martin on Sept. 23.
(2005) Saw action in all 11 games as a reserve tailback in his freshman season with the Gamecocks…was the fourth-leading rusher on the Ohio Valley Conference’s top rushing attack in limited duty, running for 216 yards and two touchdowns on 51 carries, an average of 19.6 yards per game and 4.2 yards per rush…had a season-high 66 yards on six carries in the Chattanooga game on Sept. 10…scored his first touchdown in his collegiate debut, the Furman game on Sept. 1…scored a touchdown and ran for 15 yards on five carries against Tennessee Tech on Oct. 27.
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Florence High School for Joe Hollis as a senior and played through his junior season at Bradshaw High School for Gary Horton before Bradshaw merged with Coffee to form Florence High School...was a first-team All-district an All-region selection as a junior and senior....was named regional MVP as a senior....was an All-state honorable mention selection as a senior....led the Falcons with 1,200 yards rushing as a sophomore and 900 yards as a senior…finished his career with more than 3,900 rushing yards, 32 touchdowns, 225 receiving yards and two kick returns for touchdowns…also played basketball, where he averaged 12 ppg and helped Bradshaw to the Florence TimesDaily Championship as a sophomore.
PERSONAL: Full name is Daniel O’Neal Jackson…son of Henry and Joan Jackson…born on November 20, 1986…has three older brothers, Cory, Clarke and Joe…his cousin, Jason Allen, plays with the Miami Dolphins… majoring in Exercise Science at JSU.
