PADUCAH, Ky, -- Second seeded and No. 88 Jacksonville State battled back from a 1-0 deficit to defeat Tennessee Tech 4-1 on Saturday to advance to the Ohio Valley Conference Finals.
Tennessee Tech won the doubles to take a 1-0 lead into singles.
Scott Robertson and
Eduardo Saratt defeated Alex Chen and Lloyd Harris 8-2 at No. 2 doubles for JSU's lone doubles win.
The Gamecocks won four singles matches to stage comeback. Saratt defeated Josh Girling, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 and
Chris Duke won 6-3, 6-3 over Justin Kirstein at No. 4 singles.
Brian Kenyon cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Mario Gutierrez before
Scott Robertson downed the OVC Player of the Year Dean O'Brien, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) to decide the match.
Jacksonville State's win sets up a rematch with No. 1 seed Eastern Kentucky in the OVC Tournament Finals at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The winner receives the OVC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tennis Tournament.
