COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech (2-3) won the doubles point and then won four of six singles matches to hand the Jacksonville State men's tennis team (1-5) a 5-2 loss in the Ohio Valley Conference opener for both teams.
After sweeping the three doubles matches to win the doubles point, Tennessee Tech clinched its fourth point to secure the win at No. 2 singles.
Nenad Marcec won 6-7, 7-5, 6-3 over Ruiz Sanata at No. 4 singles and
Chris Duke beat Oscar Pachon 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 at No. 5 for the Gamecocks' two points on the day.
Jacksonville State plays Kentucky at 10 a.m. in Birmingham, Ala., on Sunday.
