JACKSONVILLE – With postseason implications on the line this weekend, the Jacksonville State soccer team closes out its Ohio Valley Conference road slate with a visit to Murray State and Austin Peay.

The Gamecocks and OVC-leading Racers (6-4-3, 5-0-2) will kick off the weekend set with a 3 p.m. contest at MSU's Cutchin Field.  Following Friday's afternoon tilt, JSU will face APSU (8-6-2, 3-2-2) on Sunday at 1 p.m.  Both matches will be available on the OVC Digital Network.

With three matches left in the regular season, JSU stands at 5-10-1 overall and 2-5-0 in OVC play and vying for one of the six spots in the 2016 OVC Tournament.  After the weekend trip to MSU and APSU, the Gamecocks will close out the regular season on Thursday, October 27, hosting Belmont.

JSU will be looking to bounce back from consecutive losses to UT Martin and at Morehead State in the last outing on the pitch last Thursday.  JSU continues to be among the leaders in total shots, ranking third this week with 210 total shots and averaging 13.12 per match.  In OVC matches only, Jax State is just shy of the century mark with 94 shots, with an average of 13 per conference match as well.  JSU enters the weekend with 15 total goals with seven in conference outings.  In OVC matches only, four different Gamecocks have scored goals with three of the four being freshmen.  Freshman Cheyenne Carden leads the club with three goals, while freshman Danielle Monroe has tallied a pair and Nadia Plawiuk has a goal in OVC play to her credit.  Junior Kayla Thompson has a pair of assists in OVC play to lead the Gamecocks.

The series with the Racers has not been a kind one to the Gamecocks as MSU holds a 9-3-1 advantage in the series and have won six of the last seven battles with JSU.  The two clubs played to a scoreless draw in 2011 in Jacksonville.  JSU's last win over the Racers was a 2-1 decision during the 2007 season.

JSU owns a one-match lead over the Governors at 6-5-2 and will look to extend a two-match winning streak against in the series.  JSU claimed a 4-3 win over APSU last season and blanked the Govs 5-0 in the last meeting in Clarksville, Tennessee.
