JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State soccer program has added Mackenzee Smith to the program as a transfer from the University of Memphis, head coach
Neil Macdonald announced on Thursday.
Smith, a forward, is returning to the state of Alabama and closer to her hometown of Hoover, Alabama. Smith inked with the Tigers out of Hoover High School ahead of the 2020 season but due to COVID-19 and an injury, she will have four seasons as a Gamecock.
She was a four-year letterwinner for the Bucs of HHS and coached by Will Patridge. Smith concluded her prep career as a first team selection to the 2020 ASWA All-State Team. She was active on the club soccer circuit in the state of Alabama with BUSA and ECNL. One of the deciding factors in joining the Gamecocks were her connections to other club teammates that were already at JSU. She played with
Brookelyn Still,
Lauren Lancaster and
Lauren Hooten.
She is the daughter of Kevin and Nicole Lee and comes from an athletic family. Her father played football at the University of Alabama and with the New England Patriots. Her mother played soccer at the University of Alabama.
