SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Jax State soccer team secured its first conference point of the season, coming away with a 1-1 in the first conference road game of the season at Missouri State. Both squads moved to 0-1-1 in Conference USA play. Jax State improved to 3-6-3 while Missouri State fell to 3-6-2.
The first half was controlled by the Gamecocks, who outshot the Bears 5-1. Jax State had its lone corner kick in the first half. Defensively, the Gamecocks prevented the Bears from truly threatening in the first 45 minutes. The Bears goalie, Kate Lewis, had two saves in the first half against the Gamecocks attack.
The second half was completely flipped. The Bears came out aggressive, controlling the pace and the attack. Mo State put up eight shots to Jax State's two in the final 45 minutes of action. At the 55' mark, Mo State's Lillie Rasmussen scored her fourth goal of the season to break the scoreless tie.
At the 67' mark, Jax State's leading scorer, Emma Reeder, found the twine for her seventh goal on the season on a header after a beautiful cross into the box by Nerina Waldhart for her first assist of the season.
