JACKSONVILLE – The Jax State soccer team travels to Bowling Green, Kentucky, to play the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, who currently sit in third in the Conference USA standings. The Gamecocks sit seventh in the rankings, with a 1-2-2 conference record.
Jax State is coming off a tie against Sam Houston and WKU is coming off a tie against FIU, both scores being 1-1. The Gamecocks have never beaten the Hilltoppers but have tied them twice. The overall series record is 0-2-2, with last season's matchup going the way of the Hilltoppers, 1-0.
The Gamecock's attack is led by Emma Reeder, who has seven goals on 30 shots, and Rebecca Sierra-Burciaga who has three goals on 33 shots. Sunny Ferren is also a key piece to the offense, having recorded four assists this season.
The Hilltoppers attack is led by Makenna Egan, who has seven goals on 37 shots. Danielle Lewin and Georgia Liapis have both contributed four assists and a goal. WKU is stout defensively, giving up 0.47 goals a game.
