Soccer Falls at Alcorn State

VICKSBURG, Miss. – Jax State soccer fell to Alcorn State on the road, 4-1, on Thursday evening. The Gamecocks are now 1-4-2 on the season and the Braves improve to 3-3-0. The Gamecocks fell behind early and could not gain any momentum.
Alcorn State's leading scorer, Grace Ambrose, found the back of the net twice in the first ten minutes, scoring her seventh and eighth goal on the season. Following that, Elive Luma scored another goal for the Braves to take an early 3-0 lead at the 15' mark.
Sunny Ferren found Emma Reeder, who scored her team leading fourth goal of the season shortly after the third goal from Alcorn, who took a 3-1 lead into the half.
The Gamecocks had chances in the second half, including two free kicks right outside of the 18-yard box. Jax State couldn't hold off Alcorn State's attack and Leyla Boursiquot scored the only goal of the second half.
Jax State will be back at home to take on Alabama State. The game will be streamed on ESPN+, on Sunday, September 13, at 5:00 pm.
