JACKSONVILLE – The Jax State soccer team's second half comeback fell short against the North Florida Ospreys, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon. Jax State falls to 1-3-2 on the season, and North Florida improves to 2-2-2.

The first half was very back and forth; Paige McSwigan of UNF started the scoring off at the 16' mark shortly followed by Emma Reeder's goal at the 28' mark which was assisted by Amelia Jacobs. That was all the scoring in the first half.

The second half saw a lot more action. Paige McSwigan and Allison Souers scored back-to-back goals to give the Ospreys a two-goal lead early in the second half. The Gamecocks did not back down to the challenge with Amanda Will scoring at the 72' mark on a wide-open goal after Rebecca Sierra-Burciaga assisted her into the perfect shot.

Amelia Jacobs followed that goal up with a goal of her own at the 78' mark on a header from a pass by Sunny Ferren, to equalize the game.

Paige McSwigan then took a penalty after she was fouled in the box. She scored her third goal of the match at the 83' mark, which was the game's winning goal.

Jax State will travel to Vicksburg, Mississippi, to play Alcorn State on Sunday, September 10, at 4:00 pm.
