Biography

2011: Appeared in 60 of the Gamecocks’ 61 games as a junior and started 56…led the team in hitting with a .349 average that included seven doubles, one triple, nine home runs and 43 RBI…was a Second Team All-OVC and an OVC All-Newcomer selection…in OVC play hit .370 with six doubles, two homers and 16 RBI…hit .333 in the postseason for JSU, including a 3-for-7 showing in the NCAA Louisville Regional…had 14 multiple hit games, including three three-hit outings…homered twice and drove in five runs at Samford on March 17…also had five RBI against Southern on March 29…belted a grand slam in a 2-for-4 game vs. Florida A&M on Feb. 19…had a stretch of six-straight games with multiple hits from March 17-22.

PRIOR TO JSU: Played two seasons for coach Johnny Lynn at Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin, Tenn…as a sophomore in 2010, was second in the nation with a .526 batting average, while her 87 RBI also ranked second nationally and her 14 home runs ranked 10th…her .587 on-base percentage ranked third in the nation, while also boasting a .993 fielding percentage after committing just two errors in 286 chances…the 2010 Conference MVP and a two-time first team all-conference player, hit .470 as a freshman in 2009 to lead the Pioneers to a 43-11 record.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played five seasons for head coaches Kim McDannold and Stefan Brown at Woodford County High School in Versailles, Ky…was the team MVP in 2007 and 2008 and a third team all-state performer as a junior…a four-time Academic All-State honoree, was named to the district all-tournament team as a junior and senior…hit .478 as a senior, just below her .487 batting average in her junior year…led the Yellow Jackets to a regional title and two district titles…was a Kentucky All-Star and an East-West All-Star…also lettered in basketball.

PERSONAL: Born on Feb. 17, 1990, in Knoxville, Tenn…the daughter of Robert and Barclay Stepp…has two younger brothers, Reed and Andy…is majoring in elementary education at JSU.
