JAX STATE CAREER:
2023: A versatile linebacker for the Gamecocks that has started every game during his senior season … plays in the middle, as well as dropping into coverage for Jax State … second on the team in total tackles with 78 and third on the team with 6.0 TFL, coming for a defense that leads CUSA and ranks 16th nationally in total TFL … fifth on the team with 2.5 sacks, coming on a defense that leads CUSA and ranks 10th nationally in sacks … second on the team with six QB hurries, while also recording an interception and forcing a fumble for the Gamecocks … against Coastal Carolina, recorded 18 tackles, the most by a Gamecock since 2008.
2022: Started all 11 of Jax State’s games as the Gamecocks went 9-2 and won the ASUN Conference championship in the final season in FCS…tied for the team’s fourth-most tackles with 55 total and 20 solo stops…registered three-or-more tackles in all but one game…made it to the backfield for 5.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks, including a 17-yard setback against rival North Alabama on Oct. 15…accounted for four turnovers picking off a pair of passes and forcing two other fumbles throughout the year.
2021: Appeared in all 11 games in the fall of 2021...recorded 47 tackles for the Gamecock defense including 21 unassisted stops…had 5.5 tackles in the backfield for 20 yards lost and a sack of minus seven yards at Lamar on Nov. 13…had a season-best nine tackles against Abilene Christian on Nov. 6…finished the year with a pair of pass breakups in the season finale at Eastern Kentucky.
FALL 2020/SPRING 2021: Started all four fall games and the first three spring games before suffering a season-ending injury in his first year on the field for the Gamecocks…recorded 32 tackles on the year, including 10 solo stops and a tackle for one yard lost against Mercer on October 10…had a career-high day against the Bears where he picked up 10 tackles on the day with three unassisted stops, a forced fumble, and a quarterback hurry…finished the year with two forced fumbles, two pass breakups, and an interception that came in his first game against Florida State which he returned for a touchdown in JSU’s season opener on October 3.
2019: Sat out the 2019 season as a redshirt.
PRIOR TO JAX STATE: Played the 2018 season at Auburn, where he saw limited action as a true freshman receiver.
HIGH SCHOOL: Versatile athlete who played both wide receiver and defensive back for Coach Jimmy Gay at Cordova High…selected for Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game…ASWA first team all-state as a sophomore, junior and senior…ESPN, Rivals, 247Sports three star…also a basketball letterman…track and field state finalist in the high jump.
PERSONAL: Born on November 30, 1999, in Huntsville, Ala…son of Derek Fuqua and Dara Madison…has two brothers – Mike and Hudson – and one sister – Olivia…father played semi-pro football and mother played college softball…majoring in physical therapy at JSU.
