Biography

NOTABLE: Named to the ASA’s Top 50 Watch List for the USA Softball National Player of the Year Award…heads into her senior season chasing several career records, ranking second in doubles (51), fourth in RBI (122), sixth in home runs (30) and runs (120) and eighth in hits (184).

2009: Started 57 games at first base for the Gamecocks as a junior…was named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year and was a First Team All-Central Region honoree, as well as a First Team All-OVC Performer…led the OVC in batting average (.379), RBI (50), doubles (20) and total bases (125), while also belting 12 home runs to rank third in the league…finished 10th in the nation in doubles per game with 0.35, leading JSU to 1.83 two-baggers per game, tops in the country…her 20 doubles were fourth-most in a season in school history, while her 67 hits (9th), 12 homers (10th), .706 slugging percentage (6th) and 50 RBI (7th) also ranked in the school’s top 10…in conference play, hit .463 with eight home runs, eight doubles and 30 RBI…hit safely in 41 games, including two 12-game hitting streaks…carried a .434 average to the end of the regular season and was batting .482 as late as April 18…drove in a career-best six runs against Florida A&M on Feb. 20…notched four hits against Albany on Feb. 22, and had four other three-hit games…belted two doubles in a game four times.


2008: Started all 56 games at first base for the Gamecocks as a sophomore…hit .339 with 17 doubles, 14 home runs, 47 RBI and 48 runs scored to earn First Team All-OVC honors…boasted a .419 on-base percentage and a team-high .684 slugging percentage…in OVC Play, hit .329 with 10 home runs and 28 RBI to go along with a .729 slugging percentage…was second on the team with 18 multi-hit games, including three with three hits, and led the squad with 16 multi-RBI games…drove in four runs in a game twice (March 29 vs Tennessee State and April 20 vs Eastern Illinois)…In that TSU game, hit two home runs to tie the school record for homers in a game…went 3-for-3 and scored three runs against Georgia Southern on Feb. 15, and went 3-for-3 with two RBI against Austin Peay on April 26…hit .400 with a double, triple and four runs scored in the OVC Tournament to earn all-tourney honors…was 2-for-3 with two RBI in a 10-1 win over Florida State in the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional.

2007: Started all 58 games at first base for the Gamecocks as a true freshman…was third on the team with a .315 average with 14 doubles, a triple, four home runs and 25 RBI to earn second team All-OVC honors…struck out a team-low 19 times in 181 at bats…boasted a .470 slugging percentage and a .381 on base percentage…hit over .300 vs. both left and right handed pitchers…in 27 OVC games, hit .287…had a .974 fielding percentage after committing 12 errors in 443 chances…recorded 14 multi-hit games, including a pair of three-hit outings (Feb. 18 vs. South Alabama and April 7 vs. Southeast Missouri)…hit her first career home run on Feb. 18 against USA, when she went 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored…drove in two runs in a game four times.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played four seasons for head coaches Tom Cabral and Doug Kinsman at Wake Forest Rolesville High School in Wake Forest, N.C…was a first-team all-state selection as a senior after hitting .578 with an .811 on base percentage, six home runs and 31 RBI…set the school record for home runs and extra base hits…led the Cougars to the District B Regional title in her senior season and the 4A state finals in her junior and senior seasons…a four-time all-conference performer…played travel softball for the Pitt Co. Rockets, leading them to a fifth-place finish at the ASA National Tournament.

PERSONAL: Born on May 6, 1988, in Atlanta, Ga…the daughter of Chuck and Lynn Prier…has one sister, Melissa…was an honor student at WFRHS and wasa member of the National Honor Society…had 12 teammates on the Rockets that went on to play college softball…majoring in exercise science and wellness at JSU.
